Pampering vs spoiling children

For many moms, having only one child may not give me enough experience to talk about the difference between pampering and spoiling children, so I will mainly speak as a daughter instead of a mother.

We are six sisters and two brothers. I am the youngest sister and my brothers are younger than me. My mother and father gave us all the love and care we need. I still remember that I was the little pampered daughter. My father did not say NO for me except one time where I wanted to go on an evening journey with my school friends and he did not want to give left to school and I could not go alone at that time. I was shocked and started crying and went to my mother who talked to my father and made him drive me to school finally 🙂 . Do you believe this is the only and first time he said no and I was 12 years old?

I had too many toys and I could buy as much as I want chocolate and candies. We all had the best life any child can wish. Although we have all treated the same, we had completely different characters and attitudes. I used to be responsible since I was too young. I used to do my homework alone and just ask for help when I do not understand or know what to do. I always went to bed on time. I and most of my sisters and brothers were grateful to have such great parents and we really appreciate what they did and still do for now, but some of us still ask for more and never appreciate what they have and they become irresponsible and even impolite that they did not respect my parents.

Parents need to do their best to know how much to give. If they see things will start to go in the wrong way. They should stop and think carefully. In my family, there were many signs that my parents should stop but they thought it was too late to handle the situation although it was not as we were still too young.

What I Have learned:

  • Love is not the reason for spoiling children. In fact, expressing your love in the wrong way is the real reason for that.
  • Pampering is the start of spoiling children if we did not control it correctly.
  • It is never too late for anything, you still can fix things but it may take more time in case you started late.
